World problem sums

Boys do remember to practice your fractions word problem sums

Remember :

1) Remainder Concept means you need to find out the remainder/remaining amount after a certian portion is used and "of the remainder" means you need to multiply the remainder with the fraction given. You can either do model or the branching out method.

2)Equal Concept --> You have to make the NUMERATOR the same before you can make use of the denominator. How to identify. When in the question, you see sentences like " has the SAME amount of money left" " spent an EQUAL amount of money"

3) External transfer with 1 unchanged quantity --> You have to make the units that represent the group/person that does not undergo any changes (in the before and after situtaion) the same.

4) Internal transfer --> How to identify, the transfer of items only take place within the 2 parties, SO you have to make the TOTAL units the same in the before and after situation.

5)Constant difference --> it is making the difference the same, because both parties/group gave or take the same amount of things.

IF YOU find whatever that you read alien. YOU better be very worry, because the abovementioned are what I have been going through based on the blue booklet, of course my explaination cannot be as clear as what I gone through in class, because it hard to explain Math by typing a few words. ah

BUT remember when in doubt refer to your blue booklet!! Alternatively LOOK FOR ME!!!!

SO please focus and practice more!!!

Password and revision

Boys for those of you who cant access your lead portal, remember the password is "learning"

student /user id is your BC NO.

If you have already change your password to some thing other than "learning" and that you cannot remember, please do inform me of it and I will reset it

BUT you must come "armed" with your BC no. otherwise I will not be able to reset for you.

A small revision

1. Average = Total Number Divided by the Number of items
2. Average DOES NOT mean the actual number of things that a person/group has.
3. Average is EVEN ing out, leveling out.
4. Given the average, you find the TOTAL by multiplying average by the number of items

The aforementioned are only very very very basic reminder. YOU must know your concepts well okay. If you are unsure please ask me, if you find it shy to ask in class, than look for me after school okay :-)

Things to take note of

1. Any 3 sides of the triangle can be the base.
2. That the height of a triangle is always perpendicular to its base. IT IS A MUST!!!
3. Area of triangle is ½ × base × height
4. Measurement is represented by square centimeters.

The Magical 1089

Dear all, rem the book trick I tried with all of you?

The one whereby I wrote something on a piece of paper and asked one of your classmates to keep it...

Well here the trick to it....

One of Einstein's Favorite Puzzles

It is said that Albert Einstein used to take great delight in baffling friends with the puzzle below.

First, write the number 1089 on a piece of paper, fold it, and hand it to a friend for safekeeping. What you wrote down is not to be read until you have completed your amazing mental feat.

Next, ask your friend to write down any three-digit number, emphasizing that the first and last digits must differ by at least two. Close your eyes or turn your back while this is being done. Better still, have someone blindfold you.

After your friend has written down the three-digit number, ask him to reverse it, then subtract the smaller from the larger.Example: 654 - 456 = 198.

Once this is done, tell your friend to reverse the new number
.Example: 198 becomes 891.

Next ask your friend to add the new number and its reverse together.
Example: 198 + 891 = 1089.

If all goes as planned, your friend will be amazed.

The number you wrote down at the start -- 1089 -- will always be the same as the end result of this mathematical trick.

BODMAS

Remeber the BODMAS RULE!!

B is for Bracket, which you need to solve first.

D is for divison and M is for Multiplication, BOTH forms a set, which needs to be solve before A n S.

Division or Multiplication to solve first, you may ask, well which appear first in the solution, following the left to right rule

A is for addtion and S is for subtraction. Same thing applies here, you solve from Left to Right.

So there you have it your BODMAS rule!!

P/s: for some, remember the incredible family rule :-)
